What to do when you feel…

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” ~John 14:1

“For the LORD wil not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.” ~1 Samuel 12:22

“[F]or he [God] hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. ~Hebrews 13:5

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” ~Isaiah 41:10

“When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.” ~Psalm 27:10

Adorable owl decoration!

I’ve been looking for ways to decorate my newly-painted room—quotes, anything nature related, pictures, ect. One thing that I found was an owl cut-out on canvas, and I had to make it. ūüôā

It was so easy and fun, and I love the way it turned out. ‚̧ Here’s how to make it:

  • random assortment of scrapbook papers
  • Mod Podge–love this stuff!
  • paint brush or sponge
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • buttons–black would probably work best
  • a canvas–preferably the flat, thin ones (I’m not sure what they’re called)

  1. select¬†which scrapbook papers you’re going to use¬†and begin tearing¬†them into pieces (you could put the torn pieces in a box or container to keep them all together)

Image    2.  Choose the paper you want to be the body of the owl, sketch the shape of the owl onto the paper, and cut it out.

¬†¬†¬† 3.¬† Then choose the paper you want the wing and face to be, sketch out the shapes, and cut them out. To make sure the pieces fit, cut the wing and face a little to big, that way you can trim where it’s needed.

¬†¬†¬† 4.¬† Now the fun part! ūüôā Start at a corner, spread a little Mod Podge on the canvas, put down a piece of paper, and spread a thin layer of Mod Podge on top. Put down another piece of paper, slightly over-lapping the first, and Mod Podge over it. Keep going until the edges are covered (don’t worry about the paper hanging over the side, you can cut it off once it’s dry)

¬†¬†¬† 5.¬† Keep Mod Podgeing – if that’s even a word ūüėõ –¬†the papers until the canvas is covered.

¬†¬†¬† 6.¬† While the canvas is still wet, spread a little Mod Podge on the back-side of the owl’s body and place it in the middle of the canvas. Spread Mod Podge over the owl, then place the wing and face on top. Now put another layer of Mod Podge to cover the wing and face.

¬†¬†¬† 7.¬† Now, cut a little triangle for the beak, and two circles for the eyes(make sure the circles¬†are slightly bigger than the buttons you’re using). Mod Podge these onto the owl, then place the buttons over the circles.

And you’re done!

{this took me about an hour to make}

I hope you have fun!! ūüôā

What to do when…

…Troubles hit your life.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. ~Psalm 121:1-2

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. ~1 Peter 5:7

I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities; ~Psalm 31:7

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD. ~Psalm 31:24

Some Encouragement…

…for those who don’t enjoy highschool or are ready to drop out because it’s “too hard.”

think of school like this:

For elementary and some highschool students, school is your first “job.” You work during the week and have weekends off. Your payment isn’t money, it’s your grades. In a job, the better you work at it and the more effort you put into it, you will feel good about your work and¬†there’s more of a chance you’ll get a raise. In school, if you work hard, do your best, and put extra effort into it, you’ll get better grades and will have a good conscience. (you won’t have to worry “oh, did i do that assignment?” or “I hope¬†I pass this test/quiz”)

In the long-run, doing well in school will help you get a better job (and get into a good college.) I don’t think a bank would hire someone who can’t correctly calculate, or a newspaper company higher someone who doesn’t use correct grammar. No, you can’t be perfect, but you can strive to do your best.

Challenge yourself to do better. Put down your phone and study. Stop watching TV and get out your books. Even if it takes all your time after you get home from school to do your homework, stick to it! You will be glad you did.

Psalm 111:3, “His work is honourable and glorious.”

Proverbs 18:9, “He¬†also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.”

James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given him.”

it was cold and icey, and i fell quite a bit, but the pictures were worth it ūüôā this is one looking from the bottom of the tree up

{ill post a few pics, but each photo will be on a separate post because i can’t post them together…}

Ham/Nye Debate

these are just some things i wanted to say and point out about the debate.

{note: these aren’t exact word for word quotes because i was just quickly typing notes}

Bill Nye was asked where the first atoms came from that caused the big bang. The first words out of his mouth, “It’s a mystery…” Now at Ken Ham’s rebutle, “Well, actually, I want to tell you that there is a book out there that tells us where¬†the atoms, and all¬†matter,¬†came from. And the first sentence in it is, “In the begining, God created the heavens and the earth.”

First word from Bill Nye after being asked how conscienceness came to be: “Don’t know. It’s a mystery.” Ken Ham’s response, “well,¬†there is a book out there that tells us¬†how conscienceness¬†started and who did it.”

and something to think about: When asked what would change your mind about what you believe(or something along those lines) Ken Ham is strong in his faith in God and nothing will alter his belief. {God does not change His mind, He keeps his promises, what He says is true. we can rely on Him and His Word the Bible.} On the other hand, Bill Nye is very wobbly in what he believes. There are a bunch of things that would make him change his mind. {This is because he does not have a strong foundation (God).}

please comment if you have anything you would like to say, add, or question ūüôā
